The Virginia Babe Ruth Umpires Association (VBRUA) welcomes you. The VBRUA was established to provide umpires with a path to training and sharing a desire to officiate at the District Tournament and State Tournament levels.
We have two record keeping Divisions, Junior and Senior.
Please do not waste our administrative time. If you are not a current NUA member, or you have not renewed for the current year, please do so before attempting to register or renew.
Senior Umpires Program:
The Senior Division is composed of umpires 18-years-old and above.
There is no charge to become a Senior member. However, a prerequisite to membership is your up-to-date certification in the Babe Ruth League, Inc. National Umpires Association (NUA).
Junior Umpires Program:
The Junior Umpires Division provides the necessary professional training and regular season game experience to be successful. The Junior Umpires are certified by the State and, therefore, are not eligible to officiate in Babe Ruth sanctioned District and State tournaments.
The Junior Umpires Division training is designed for youth ages 13 to 17. Your age is determined by your age on March 1st. It provides baseball and softball entry level training and experience.
The level of umpiring experience provided covers the Cal Ripken Baseball (7-12 year-olds) and 12U Softball (7-12 year-olds) Divisions of Babe Ruth League, Inc.
There is a $10.00 registration fee (for each sport) payable to the Babe Ruth Leagues of Virginia, Inc. that helps cover the costs associated with the training.
What do you get for your buck?
- Professional training in baseball and softball officiating provided by the Babe Ruth Leagues of Virginia, Inc. staff of umpire consultants.
- On-site Virginia testing and State certification at the conclusion of the training session.
