ABOUT THE VBRUA

The Virginia Babe Ruth Umpires Association (VBRUA) welcomes you.

(Note: Umpires who do not intend to register for State tournaments need not be current NUA or VBRUA members. However, participating in training is highly encouraged.)

The VBRUA was established for two reasons: 1) to provide umpires with training (see training schedule, above)., and 2) to register qualified umpires who have interest in officiating sanctioned Babe Ruth State tournaments.

Please do not waste our time. If you want to apply to the VBRUA to officiate in State tournaments and you are not a current Babe Ruth National Umpire Association (NUA) member or you have not renewed for the current year, please do so before attempting to apply or renew.

VBRUA MEMBERSHIP AND TRAINING IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR AN ASSIGNMENT AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT LEVEL.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to all interested tournament umpires who are at least 18 years old.

There is no charge to become a member. However, a prerequisite to membership is an up-to-date certification in the Babe Ruth League, Inc. National Umpire Association (NUA).

Here is what applicants need to do:

Step 1: Go to the Babe Ruth National Umpire Association website at the Babe Ruth NUA Certification Website and certify (if new) or renew (if returning).

Step 2: The DAY FOLLOWING the NUA process, go to the REGISTER NOW form. There is no cost for VBRUA membership. VBRUA application and renewal processses open on or around January 1 and closes on June 30 each year (the end of the State tournament cycle). Be advised that VBRUA approvals can take up to 48 hours because NUA membership must be verified with Headquarters.
